What’s Brewing with the Biz of Books?

We’re hard at work in the Biz of Books laboratory this month, creating a brand-new series of talks to get you on the path to publication–fast. We’re launching a 30-day system that will get your book proposal finished in the month of  February. How’s that for a new year’s resolution? Stay tuned here for details!

We’re also knee-deep in another exciting project: we’re creating an author toolkit, which is chock-full of our insider information on writing a winning book proposal, including handy worksheets and actual sample proposals (ones that sold, of course!). The toolkit will be your own personal roadmap to get from point A, a good idea, to point B, a book deal. It’s all part of our continued goal: to keep you supported and motivated every step of the way.

The new year marks the one-year anniversary of The Business of Books, and it’s going to kick off with a bang, thanks to these brand-new offerings and some other surprises we have up our collective sleeves. In the meantime, do email us or leave a comment if you’re interested in an individual proposal review. We’ve read some great ones lately!

  1. I have enjoyed taking your workshops and would like to pass that experience on to a friend. I founud you through an introductory workshop at the Seattle Pulbic Library. Are you still doing those and if so, when is the next one?

    • Hi Betty,
Thanks for your note. We don’t have anything scheduled at the library right now, though we hope to this spring. We do, however, have two great workshops coming up. On Jan. 26 we have a half-day workshop, “Craft a Winning Book Proposal” at the Hugo House. On Feb. 9 we have an all-day intensive book proposal class, “30 Days to a Winning Book Proposal,” where we go through every aspect of the proposal and share our plan for getting it done in one month’s time. Registrants for the Feb. 9 class also get to take home our Publishing Toolkit, a 100-page binder of information, workshops, and sample proposals. You can register for the all-day class through Brown Paper Tickets: brownpapertickets.com/event/292545
Let us know if you have any other questions, and thanks for passing this along to interested friends. Write on!
